School Climate Team

The school climate team was charged with taking tasks from the community and categorizing them into a manageable plan. The team, consisting of parents, community members, teachers, and administrators, determined four focus areas: safety, community friendliness, diversity and class size.

Safety: To ensure the physical and emotional safety of all children enrolled in WSFCS.

  • Evaluate yearly school safety and make recommendations to the board based on results
  • Consider policy changes to strengthen bullying and discrimination
  • Create public awareness of bullying and discrimination through media partnerships

Diversity: To promote diversity through education and training for students, faculty and staff.

  • Encourage school system to regularly monitor the effectiveness of current diversity programs
  • Implement Mix It Up, a civic engagement process, in all high schools to encourage students to actively address and break down social boundaries
